SL2600
At 190 g the SL2600 is light enough to wear on a shirt for a full shift without the radio becoming the thing operators complain about, and it still carries 256 channels - the same capacity as a full-keypad MOTOTRBO R5 - plus Bluetooth 4.0 for a wireless earpiece. That combination points at hotels, retail floors, hospitals and event venues, where a discreet profile and a large channel plan matter more than maximum transmit power.
SL1600
The SL1600 is 21 to 24 g lighter and published for marginally longer runtime, 14 hours digital against the SL2600's 13.5, but it is a 99-channel radio with no published Bluetooth. A single-site operation with a small channel plan will not feel the difference. A multi-site or multi-tenant building will, because 256 channels let one radio carry a whole property's talkgroups without being reprogrammed when staff move between floors or departments.
