System planning
Not sure how many radios or repeaters you need?
Tell us about your team, site layout and communication needs. We will help develop a suitable system configuration.
- 01
How many radios does the team need — and how many spares?
Start from the roles on shift and the number of talk groups, not headcount alone. Spare units are usually 10-15% on sites where a dead battery stops work.
- 02
Does the site need a repeater, and how many?
It follows from the distance between users and what is in between — walls, floors, terrain, steel. One repeater covers a lot of open ground and very little of a basement.
- 03
How do we cover several buildings, underground areas or separate sites?
Each of those is a different problem: in-building coverage, leaky feeder or distributed antenna for tunnels, and linked repeaters for separate sites.
- 04
Which antennas, feeders, power supplies and chargers are needed?
These depend on the repeater you choose and how it is installed. They are listed line by line in the BOM rather than bundled into a package price.
- 05
Will new radios work with the equipment we already own?
Only after the model, band, protocol and programming rights are confirmed. We check those before quoting, instead of promising compatibility up front.
There is no calculator on this page on purpose. Area alone does not determine repeater count — concurrent talk paths, structure, terrain and the frequency licence all move the answer, so the estimate has to come from a person who has seen your site data.
What you receive
What a system project actually delivers
Six deliverables, each with what you get and where our responsibility stops. Read the third column before you decide how much of this you need.
| Service | What you receive | Scope note |
|---|---|---|
| Requirement analysis | Headcount, roles, shifts, coverage area and the talk-group structure written down | We do not size a system from a headcount alone |
| Equipment quantity planning | Radio, repeater and accessory quantities with the reasoning behind each number | Quantities are stated as a proposal, adjustable after your review |
| System architecture | Connection diagram and site layout showing what talks to what, including which items are optional | Based on the data you send; not a substitute for an on-site RF survey |
| BOM and quotation | Model, quantity, configuration, accessories and itemised pricing | Pricing valid for the stated validity period only |
| Pre-configuration and testing | Programming to your frequency plan, talk groups, emergency behaviour, plus outgoing checks within the agreed scope | Programming depends on you supplying a usable frequency plan or licence details |
| Technical support | Remote commissioning guidance, configuration help and follow-up during rollout | Remote only — we do not travel to site for installation or acceptance |
Overseas field survey, physical installation and final acceptance are carried out by your local team or contractor. We support that work remotely and put the boundary in writing before the order, not after.
Reference configuration
How the numbers are derived — one worked example
A 40-user open-pit mine site. Shown so you can see the reasoning, not so you can copy the quantities.
Example only — not a quotation
Design assumptions
- Open-pit mine, 3.5 km across, no underground workings
- 40 radio users across two 12-hour shifts, 22 on shift at peak
- One control room that needs to call all groups at once
- No existing repeater on site; a UHF licence is held by the operator
- Vehicles stay on the pit rim road; no tunnel or basement coverage
Still to confirm
- Actual coverage verification still needs a site survey or a drive test after installation
- Repeater position depends on available power and backhaul at the pit rim
- Talk-group names and emergency behaviour must come from your operating procedure
- If any area is classified as hazardous, the handheld model changes and the quantity may not
| Line item | Qty | Why this quantity |
|---|---|---|
| Motorola DP4401e handheld | 36 | 32 duty + 4 spares (12.5%) |
| Motorola SLR 5500 repeater | 1 | single site, pit rim position |
| Duplexer + cabinet kit | 1 | one per repeater, single antenna |
| Omni antenna + 30 m feeder | 1 | height driven by pit depth |
| Motorola DM4401e vehicle radio | 4 | one per shift supervisor vehicle |
| Multi-unit charger | 4 | six-bay, one per crew room |
| Spare battery | 12 | one per three radios |
The 36 handhelds are 32 on-shift positions plus 12.5% spares. One repeater covers open ground at this radius; the same 40 users inside a multi-storey building would need a different answer entirely. Prices are deliberately absent — a real BOM is quoted against quantities, destination and terms, and a number here would be mistaken for an offer.

Frequently Asked Questions for Professional Dealers
01Can a supplier in China help plan a complete two-way radio system?
Yes, for planning and supply: requirement analysis, equipment quantities, system architecture, an itemised BOM, pre-programming and remote support. On-site survey and physical installation stay with your local team, and we say so before quoting.
02How many radios and repeaters does my facility need?
Radios follow the number of people on shift plus spares and the number of talk groups. Repeaters follow coverage: the distance between users and what stands between them. Send a site plan and we will put numbers and reasoning against it.
03What information is needed for a radio system quotation?
A site plan with rough distances, building and floor count, underground areas, headcount and peak shift size, roles needing separate groups, existing equipment with model and band, hazardous-area classification, destination country and target date. Anything missing is listed back to you.
04Can you supply radios, repeaters, antennas and pre-configuration together?
Yes. One BOM can cover handhelds, vehicle mobiles, repeaters, duplexers, antennas, feeders, power, chargers and spares with programming included. You can also order any subset such as radios only.
05Are your Motorola & Hytera radios original?
Yes. We supply only original, brand-new devices in original sealed packaging. Serial numbers can be verified.
06Do you support small fleet owners and big government tenders?
Both. We cater to small-scale retailers starting from 10 units and provide full tender support (technical spec sheets, compliance docs) for large-scale government and industrial projects.
07Do you offer free frequency programming?
Yes. Whether you need 10 units for a warehouse or 500 for a refinery, we provide free programming. Just provide your frequency grid before shipping.
08How do I ensure regional compatibility?
We map regional model versions (DP/CP/XiR/XPR) and confirm the band and firmware variant against your destination before quoting. Where a channel needs a licence, confirm the band you are authorised to use — we match the hardware to that licence rather than assuming a band.
09What is your warranty and support policy?
24-month body warranty. We offer remote engineering support via WhatsApp/Zoom for technical setup, codeplug fixes, and repeater IP multi-site configuration.
010Do you provide DDP (Duty Paid) shipping?
Yes, for USA, UAE, and EU. We handle customs and taxes so your order arrives directly at your door. For other regions we issue accurate commercial invoices with correct HS codes for smooth customs clearance.
011What payment methods do you accept?
PayPal, WorldFirst and bank T/T. For first orders we support sample validation before bulk payment.
012Are refurbished or second-hand units available?
No. We supply only 100% brand-new units in unopened original packaging, with verifiable serial numbers. For budget projects we can recommend entry-tier models (DP1400, HP605) instead — same warranty, lower cost.
