Motorola
The single most common procurement error in North America: ordering DP-prefix radios for US deployment. DP2400e and XPR 3500e are the same hardware but different firmware 鈥?XPR expects FCC frequency allocations (UHF 450-512 MHz, VHF 150-174 MHz). Deploy DP firmware in the US and the radios cannot transmit legally on any frequency. US police departments, fire services, and utility companies all search 'XPR' exclusively. If your website only shows DP model numbers, you're invisible to the entire North American market.
North America
The P25 layer is completely separate from DMR in North America. APX is mandatory for any agency receiving federal interoperability grants 鈥?you cannot spend DHS/FEMA money on DMR radios. The APX 8000 all-band is the gold standard for multi-agency command (one radio on VHF, UHF, and 700/800 simultaneously during mutual aid). APX 6000 dominates single-agency procurement (police on UHF, fire on VHF). APX 2000 is the entry point for small rural departments with grant constraints. RadioSysHub advises global traders: if you sell into the US, list XPR model numbers on your website. If you sell APX internationally, note that P25 is almost exclusively North American 鈥?don't pitch it to African or Asian tenders.
